Egypt stood in the UN and reviled Libya for human rights abuses, claiming special knowledge of Libya’s transgressions, as their closest neighbour, then voted to recognize the NTC.

AFTER MUCH WRANGLING, GENERAL ASSEMBLY SEATS NATIONAL TRANSITIONAL COUNCIL OF LIBYA AS COUNTRY’S REPRESENTATIVE FOR SIXTY-SIXTH SESSION

There is history there because there was a war between Libya and Egypt in 1977. They both SUPPORTED U.S. PROGRAMS OF EXTRAORDINARY RENDITION where persons were tortured?

Let the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURTS decide. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. But the ad hoc courts are kangaroos only established at the convenience, behest and pleasure of the Security Council, vetoes and all.

Also note how many and which nations never even showed up (47) for the last vote in the Assembly. Why was that? Apathy born of despair and bullying?

The International Court of Justice resolves disputes between CONSENTING parties by International Law. It is powerless and ineffective by design according to article 36 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice.

The UN needs reform with an empowered judiciary or it will be replaced after WW3,  like the League of Nations was replaced after WW2.

“Diplomats are just as essential to starting a war as soldiers are for finishing it… You take diplomacy out of war, and the thing would fall flat in a week.”
